Ogun candidate Owoeye Jesudunsin emerges as 2026 JAMB overall best candidate

Ogun State hit gold in the just-concluded Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination as Owoeye Daniella Jesudunsin has been crowned the overall best-performing candidate for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
Jesudunsin, an indigene of Ekiti State who sat the examination in Ogun State, emerged top of the national rankings with a remarkable score of 372 out of 400.
The announcement was made during the 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions, held on May 11, where education stakeholders gathered to review the year’s performance statistics.
In pursuit of her career aspirations, Jesudunsin applied to study Medicine and Surgery, one of the most competitive and rigorous courses in the Nigerian university system.
She selected the University of Lagos (UNILAG) as her first-choice institution, aiming to join its prestigious College of Medicine.
Reacting to the development, the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, commended her as a testament to academic excellence and noted that the 2026 exercise showed an improvement in the overall performance of students.
Her success has sparked widespread celebrations in both Ekiti and Ogun States, serving as a powerful inspiration for younger students preparing for future examinations.
As the admissions cycle begins, Jesudunsin stands at the forefront of her peers, setting a high benchmark for the next generation of Nigerian medical students if she eventually gains admission.
