Ogun Police arrest three over alleged human parts trade

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested three suspects in connection with an alleged trade in human body parts.
The arrests were made on April 22, 2025, around 8:00 a.m. by the command’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit, following credible intelligence.
The prime suspect, Sunday Akintobi, 36, a resident of the Itoku area in Abeokuta, was first apprehended. Further investigations led to the arrest of two others — Oladimeji Olaniran, 40, and Isaiah Tijani, 38.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, a search of the suspects’ residences resulted in the discovery of what is believed to be human remains, including cerebral bones. Some of these were recovered from a location disguised as a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Kobape town, as well as from another site along Abiola Way in Abeokuta.
Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to carry out a discreet investigation to establish the full extent of the suspects’ involvement in the crime.
The police urged the public to avoid shielding criminal elements and to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information, stressing that such efforts are essential in tackling ritual killings and other violent crimes in the state.
