The committee is one of the most powerful and influential administrative organs within the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA).

Olopade said the appointment further cements Pinnick’s reputation as one of Africa’s most influential and globally connected sports administrators.

According to him, the development is a major milestone for Nigerian football and sports in general. He assured that the Nigerian government, through the NSC, will continue to support the country’s sports administrators in attaining global leadership positions.

“I want to congratulate my friend and brother, Amaju Pinnick, for this laudable feat. As a country, we are proud of him for how he has continued to project the image of Nigeria at the highest level of football administration,” Olopade stated.

“I am not surprised that FIFA has entrusted him with such a high-profile assignment to oversee all FIFA men’s tournaments, including the Senior Men’s World Cup, U-20 and U-17 World Cups, the Olympic Games, and the FIFA Arab Cup. This is the quality of asset that Amaju represents to football.”

The NSC DG further urged Pinnick to use his new position to drive the growth of Nigerian football, both administratively and in talent development.
