First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to caring for displaced Nigerians with the commissioning of the Oluremi Tinubu Renewed Hope Resettlement City in Yar-Kade community, Keffi.
The Resettlement City, established by the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), is designed to provide shelter, security, and livelihood opportunities for families affected by insurgency, banditry, communal clashes, and natural disasters across the country.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Saturday, Senator Tinubu described the initiative as a milestone in restoring hope and dignity to displaced Nigerians.

“I am pleased to witness the resettlement of 40 households, comprising 239 individuals, into a safe and dignified environment,” she said. “This development reaffirms the commitment of the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, which aims to enhance social welfare programmes for all Nigerians.”

She emphasised that resettlement must go hand in hand with empowerment and self-reliance, announcing that 100 hectares of farmland have been secured for the families, alongside facilities such as greenhouses, vocational training centres, a police station, a church, and a mosque.
Joining her at the event, Nasarawa State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Sule, described the resettlement project as a “symbol of hope” and commended President Tinubu’s efforts in strengthening security across the country.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, praised the First Lady for championing social inclusion initiatives, saying the gesture reassures displaced persons that they are “heard, seen, and valued.”
