Oluremi Tinubu urges Muslim women to uphold faith, resilience, responsibility

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged Muslim women across Nigeria to remain steadfast in their faith, resilient in the face of challenges and committed to their responsibilities to their families, communities and the nation.

Tinubu made the call on Thursday while declaring open the 41st National Conference of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) in Umuahia, Abia State.

Represented by the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, the First Lady said the theme of the conference, “Faith, Resilience and Responsibility: Muslim Women Responding to Challenges”, was timely and should serve as a call to action.

She said faith gives women strength and keeps hope alive during difficult times, urging participants to use their positions as mothers, wives, educators, mentors and community leaders to promote peaceful families and stronger communities.

“As women, our faith strengthens us, gives us courage and keeps hope alive, even in the face of challenges. Through faith, resilience and a strong sense of responsibility, we can continue to make meaningful contributions to our families, communities and our nation,” she said.

The First Lady expressed hope that the deliberations and resolutions of the conference would translate into concrete actions that would improve the welfare of women and contribute to peace, unity and national development.

Also speaking, Abia State Governor Alex Otti said faith provides a moral compass for navigating a changing world, while resilience gives people the courage to remain steadfast in difficult circumstances.

Represented by his wife, Priscilla Otti, the governor said responsibility gives people purposeful direction and calls them to contribute meaningfully to their homes, communities and nation.
