The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has distributed over 50 bags of rice to elderly residents of the ancient city ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Oba Akanbi, in a statement signed by his press secretary, Alli Ibraheem, carried out the distribution personally, visiting aged men and women in their homes to identify with them and provide food items for their welfare.
The outreach covered about five compounds, including Odofin, Sobaloju, Omole, Opaba, Kajola, and Oluponna.
According to the monarch, the decision to conduct the exercise personally was to ensure fairness and prevent any form of discrimination or favouritism.
He said his intention was to extend the reach of kingship to the doorsteps of elderly persons who no longer have the strength to visit the palace to benefit from such gestures.
The Oluwo also called on individuals with the financial capacity to extend similar acts of generosity to the elderly in their communities.
