Ondo APC chieftain urges restraint in criticism of Governor Aiyedatiwa

By Boye Oyeyemi –
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, High Chief Adebisi Abraham, has urged residents to refrain from using derogatory language against Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and other public officials.
Abraham, a member of the Presidential Campaign Council and a long-standing APC stakeholder, issued the warning following a viral video reportedly made by an Akoko indigene.
He noted that while citizens have the right to hold leaders accountable, such expressions should respect cultural values.
“It is not right for any Akoko son to use derogatory words against the Governor or any of his aides. That is not our culture; that is not who we are,” he said.
Abraham emphasised that speaking truth to power is acceptable, but that “reckless and baseless attacks on leaders are unacceptable.”
He praised Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to local development, highlighting the dualisation of the Akungba–Ikare road as a key initiative to address transportation challenges in the area.
“Governor Aiyedatiwa has commenced the dualisation of the Akungba–Ikare road, which has long been a menace to us in this part of the state. We should encourage him to complete it and other inner roads within our towns. The Governor is doing his best and needs our collective encouragement,” Abraham stated.
The APC leader called on Akoko sons and daughters, both at home and abroad, to promote unity, discipline and constructive engagement in public discourse, stressing that respect and decorum are core values of the Akoko people.
