Members and leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State have praised the conduct of the party’s House of Representatives direct primary election held across the state.
The exercise, which took place in all 203 wards across the state, was largely peaceful and orderly, with party members turning out in large numbers to participate in the process.
Some party chieftains and aspirants who monitored the election commended the atmosphere during the exercise, describing it as credible, transparent and well-coordinated.
They also applauded the leadership of the party for putting measures in place to ensure a smooth and hitch-free primary election.
Speaking with journalists, the Chairman of Akure South Local Government Area, Gbenga Fasua, said party members conducted themselves peacefully without intimidation or violence.
According to him, voters freely expressed their choices during the exercise, while turnout across the councils was impressive.
“Akure people are known for peaceful conduct and political maturity. The process was calm and orderly in the wards we visited,” he said.
An aspirant for the Akure South/Akure North Federal Constituency seat, Omowunmi Olatunji-Ohwovoriole, also described the primary as peaceful and well-organised, adding that party members participated massively in line with the party’s guidelines.
