Ondo guard arrested in Ogun after allegedly fleeing with employer’s generators

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a security guard, Emmanuel Ojo, in Ogun State after he allegedly fled Akure with two generators valued at N950,000 belonging to his employer.

The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, saying Ojo allegedly used his position as a security guard to gain access to the generators before absconding from the area.

The incident was reported by Ojo’s employer, identified as Ogunyinka, at the ‘A’ Division Police Station in Akure. The missing items were identified as a Fireman generator and a Honda generator.

Following the complaint, detectives commenced an investigation and obtained information indicating that the suspect had left Ondo State for Ogun State to evade arrest.

The police subsequently traced Ojo to Ogun State, where he was apprehended by detectives. He was brought in for questioning as investigators continued efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged theft.

Jimoh said the suspect allegedly confessed during interrogation and provided information which assisted the police in their investigation into the stolen generators.

The suspect was thereafter subjected to further investigation before being charged before a court, according to the command.

Reacting, the Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, commended the officers involved in the operation and said the command would continue to pursue suspects irrespective of where they fled. He also urged residents to report suspicious activities and criminal incidents to the police promptly.
