Ondo task force to clamp down on land grabbers in 2026

By Boye Oyeyemi –
The Ondo State Anti-Land Grabbing Task Force has warned individuals involved in illegal land activities to desist or face decisive legal action this year.
The warning was contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of the state, Dr Kayode Ajulo, who chairs the task force.
Ajulo said the task force, at its first meeting of 2026, reviewed its strategies and resolved to intensify enforcement against land-related offences across the state.
He declared that 2026 would be particularly difficult for land grabbers, noting that the grace period earlier given to offenders expired in 2025.
The Attorney-General stressed that anyone found violating the Ondo State Properties Protection and Its Documentation Law, 2024, would be arrested and prosecuted without compromise.
Ajulo added that the task force had compiled the names of individuals allegedly notorious for land grabbing, warning that the law would be applied strictly against them.
He also commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for supporting the task force through the enactment of the law and the provision of operational resources, assuring property owners and investors of improved protection in the state.
