Osun: APC accuses Adeleke of plotting to oust reinstated LG chairmen

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has accused the Ademola Adeleke-led government of plotting to procure a court judgment aimed at ousting the reinstated Local Government chairmen and councillors.
At a press conference held on Sunday at the Ilerioluwa Campaign Office in Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo, the APC alleged that the state government has made arrangements to secure a “kangaroo ruling” from the court, which is expected to be presided over by Justice I. O. Adeleke of the State High Court sitting in Ikirun on April 17, 2025.
The APC claims that the judgment is part of a plan to manipulate the legal process and install Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmen and supporters in the councils.
Oluomo Sunday Akere, a former Commissioner for Information in the state, read the statement on behalf of the party. He revealed that the APC had credible information suggesting that Governor Adeleke was relying on a court order to replace the reinstated chairmen with those unlawfully selected by the PDP.
The APC also alleged that the plan involves using the Amotekun Corps and hired thugs to forcefully eject the reinstated chairmen and councillors, undermining the judicial process and putting lives and property at risk.
“The judgment, procured for April 17, 2025, is intended to forcibly remove the reinstated Local Government chairmen, violating the judgment of the Appeal Court, and bringing in illegally selected PDP chairmen with the help of Amotekun Corps and other violent actors,” the APC statement read. “The government aims to disrupt the local councils by unleashing terror on our elected officials.”
The APC further accused the Adeleke-led government of orchestrating attacks on the reinstated chairmen, including burning down Local Government secretariats and framing the APC chairmen and councillors for these acts of violence.
The party has called on the state judiciary to be vigilant against the PDP’s efforts to corrupt the legal process with “black market judgments.”
It also urged national security agencies, including the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the Department of State Services, and the Office of the National Security Adviser, to closely monitor the situation and prevent further escalation of violence in the state.
