Osun APC dismisses rumour of anointed candidates for 2027 assembly elections

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed rumours that its leadership has endorsed candidates for the 2027 National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections.
In a statement issued on Monday, the state chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, urged members and supporters of the party to disregard the misinformation and disinformation being circulated to create disaffection within the party.
Lawal said there has never been any meeting, past or present, where the issue of anointed candidates for the 2027 elections was discussed.
He stated that party members should now focus on mobilising support for the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), and his running mate, Aare (Engr) Benjamin Kayode Adereti, ahead of the forthcoming governorship poll.
The chairman added that it is a disservice for any member to promote avoidable acrimony or crisis for personal interest, which would not serve the collective interest of the party in reclaiming power in the state.
Lawal reiterated that the party leadership under his watch has not anointed any candidate for the National Assembly or State House of Assembly elections.
He described the rumour as a deliberate attempt by some individuals to destabilise the party and urged aspirants for the national and state assemblies to focus on ensuring the victory of the party’s governorship candidate.
Lawal expressed confidence that once the APC wins the governorship election, other political processes in the state would naturally fall into place.
