Osun LG workers rally support for Oyebamiji ahead of Saturday’s election

Concerned local government workers in Osun State on Thursday rallied in Osogbo to declare their support for the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

The workers, led by the President of the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, Tirimisiyu Adedayo Adekunle, said they voluntarily joined the rally because they believed an Oyebamiji administration would improve workers’ welfare.

Adekunle said the rally was different from an earlier protest at the Abere Secretariat, where, according to him, some people were prevented from entering the premises.

He said the participants attended voluntarily because they believed Oyebamiji and the APC could improve the welfare of local government workers.

Adekunle alleged that most of those at the earlier rally were suspended or dismissed workers, while some were still serving as state government employees.

He also accused the Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration of intolerance toward opposition groups and what he described as reliance on propaganda, urging politicians to treat politics as a contest rather than a do-or-die affair.

Meanwhile, Adekunle praised President Bola Tinubu over local government autonomy, saying it would promote faster development at the grassroots and improve the welfare of local government workers.

He expressed confidence in Oyebamiji’s ability to lead Osun State, describing the APC candidate as a qualified leader and “a man of God.”
