Kwara CP charges deployed personnel on discipline, neutrality ahead of Osun election

The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, CP Ojo Adekimi, has charged personnel deployed to Osun State for election security duties to maintain discipline, neutrality and professionalism throughout the exercise.

Adekimi gave the charge while addressing the personnel ahead of their deployment, conveying the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, that officers assigned to election duties must remain apolitical and impartial.

He urged the personnel to discharge their responsibilities in accordance with the law and established rules of engagement, stressing that election security was a critical national assignment.

The commissioner warned against conduct capable of compromising the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force or undermining public confidence in the electoral process, including extortion, fraternisation with political actors and unnecessary use of force.

He further directed the personnel to remain vigilant and maintain effective communication with their respective commanders throughout the assignment.

Adekimi also charged them to protect lives and property, preserve public order and provide a secure environment for citizens to exercise their franchise without intimidation or interference.

The commissioner expressed confidence in the preparedness of the deployed personnel and urged them to uphold the highest standards of professional conduct throughout the election.

He also charged them to remain worthy ambassadors of the Kwara State Police Command while carrying out their duties in Osun State.
