Oyo Assembly confirms chairman, board members for LG Service Commission

The Oyo State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed the nomination of Mr. Akinwale Akinwole as Chairman of the State Local Government Service Commission, along with four other members selected from different geo-political zones of the state.
Governor Seyi Makinde had, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, sent a message to the House seeking confirmation of the nominees.
Presenting the committee report at the plenary on Thursday, Hon. Sola Owolabi, on behalf of the Committee Chairman on Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and State Honours, Hon. Akintunde Olajide, stated that the nominees were put on oath and fielded questions from committee members. All nominees, he said, responded satisfactorily and were deemed appointable.
“Pursuant to the resolution of the House on Tuesday, 13th May 2025, that the Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and State Honours screen the nominees as Chairman and Members of the Local Government Service Commission for confirmation of their appointments, the committee conducted the screening, administered the oath, and posed questions to the nominees,” he said.
“Having thoroughly reviewed their curriculum vitae and being satisfied with their comportment, the committee hereby recommends, pursuant to the Local Government Law, 2001 (as amended), that the appointments be confirmed,” he added.
The confirmed appointees are Mr. Akinwale Solomon Akinwole (Chairman), Mr. Yusuf Ali Akinkunmi (full-time member), Alhaji Oke Hakeem Taiwo (full-time member), Mrs. Nike Arewa (part-time member), and Mr. John Abisoye Adisa-Oke (part-time member).
