Oyo conducts confirmation exam for over 4,500 civil servants

The Oyo State Government has conducted the 2026 mandatory confirmation examination for more than 4,500 civil servants across various cadres in the state.

The examination, organised by the Ministry of Establishments and Training, was for officers on Grade Levels 1 to 6 as part of the requirements for confirmation of their appointments, according to a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade.

The statement said the examination was conducted simultaneously at seven designated zonal centres across the state, with Clerical Officers, Clerical Assistants, Store Attendants and other officers in allied junior cadres among the participants.

According to the government, officers appointed to junior cadres are required to pass the mandatory examination within two years of their appointment to qualify for confirmation of their employment.

Addressing candidates at the Simeon Adebo Staff Development Centre for Ibadan Zones 1 and 2, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Hameed Alade Bello, urged participants to remain patient as the examination was conducted in batches.

Bello encouraged the candidates to put in their best and pass the examination, describing it as an important opportunity for further career development within the state civil service, while assuring eligible officers that they would be given the opportunity to sit for the examination.

The examination covered subjects including Public Service Rules 1 and 2 and current affairs, while Bello said the results would be released after grading and communicated to participants through their respective ministries, departments and agencies.

Meanwhile, the state government reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening professionalism and competence in the public service through regular assessment and capacity development programmes, noting that the confirmation examination remains an important requirement for career progression among junior officers.
