The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, has denied allegations that he received money from proxies of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to facilitate the impeachment of Seyi Makinde, describing the claim as false and politically motivated.
Responding to the allegation, Ogundoyin said no money exchanged hands at any meeting, insisting the narrative was fabricated to damage his reputation and destabilise both the executive and legislative arms of government in the state.
“I was presented with enticing offers and opportunities, but I declined without hesitation because nothing can sway my conscience or weaken my loyalty to the Governor, the party, and the people we were elected to serve. I remain fully committed to upholding the integrity of this House and will not be part of any agenda aimed at destabilising the government we built,” he said.
The Speaker stressed that he would never betray the mandate of the people or undermine the administration of Governor Makinde, reaffirming his unwavering loyalty to both the governor and the ruling party.
He added that no individual or group would succeed in creating division between him and the administration or derail the collective mandate entrusted to them by the electorate, emphasizing that under his leadership, the Assembly remains committed to constitutional order, good governance, and the overall interest of the people.
Addressing a separate claim linking his recent visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, to alleged political scheming, the speaker clarified that the visit was purely consultative and occurred weeks earlier, explaining that the meeting was to formally inform the monarch of his governorship ambition and seek his blessings.
Ogundoyin further urged the public to disregard what he termed as unsuccessful attempts to sow discord within the state’s political leadership.
