Ogundoyin offered reps ticket, cash to back Makinde’s impeachment — Oyo PDP reveals

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has accused the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, of receiving a substantial financial inducement alongside a house of representatives ticket to influence actions against Governor Seyi Makinde.

The allegation was made by the Oyo State Public Relations Officer of the PDP, Michael Ogunsina, during an appearance on Dominion Television’s programme, “The Agenda”.

Ogunsina expressed concern over what he described as attempts to destabilise the Makinde-led administration, claiming that the financial inducement allegedly ran into eight figures.

He further alleged that the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, approached the speaker and urged him to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as part of broader political manoeuvres in the state.

According to him, former Oyo State First Lady, Florence Ajimobi, is also pushing for the impeachment of Governor Makinde, haven being reportedly invited the Speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin, to a meeting in Lagos, where he was encouraged to abandon the PDP for the APC, with an alleged promise of a house of representatives ticket for the Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency.

He argued that the alleged developments point to a coordinated effort by influential political actors to create tension within the state’s political structure and weaken the relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government.

Ogunsina equally warned that such actions could undermine stability in the state if not properly addressed, adding that the PDP was closely monitoring the situation.
