Ekiti APC targets 800,000 votes for Tinubu’s re-election bid

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has set a target of 800,000 votes for President Bola Tinubu in Ekiti State ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with the party expressing confidence in its chances of securing massive support across the country.

The Presidential Campaign Council Director-General, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, announced the target on Thursday during the party’s campaign rally in Ado-Ekiti, where he urged residents to increase their support for Tinubu beyond the votes recorded in the 2023 presidential election.

Yari said Ekiti had more than 1.08 million registered voters, with over 900,000 Permanent Voter Cards collected. He added that the APC was targeting about 90 per cent of the votes cast in the state.

The former Zamfara State governor attributed the party’s confidence to what he described as the Tinubu administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education, youth development and women’s empowerment. He urged residents to support the President’s re-election bid, promising that stronger electoral support would attract more federal projects to the state.

Yari also declared that northern Nigeria was firmly behind Tinubu, expressing confidence that the region would mobilise support for his second-term ambition. He argued that the president had supported northerners in securing key political positions and deserved their backing in 2027.

He challenged opposition parties to offer alternative solutions to the country’s economic challenges, insisting that the APC would campaign on the administration’s record, particularly its policies on inflation, foreign exchange and trade.

Similarly, the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, urged Ekiti residents to support Tinubu’s re-election, citing ongoing and completed road projects, tax reforms and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as evidence of the administration’s performance. He said the student loan scheme had expanded access to higher education for students from less privileged backgrounds.

Yilwatda also urged voters to support APC candidates in the January 16 National Assembly election and the February House of Assembly poll, expressing confidence that the party would secure victory across the state.
