PHOTO NEWS: Ahmadu Bello University students celebrate diversity at cultural fiesta

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, came alive in 2025 with its annual Students’ Cultural Carnival — a vibrant showcase of culture, unity, and tradition that reaffirmed the institution’s reputation as home to Africa’s largest campus carnival.

The event drew thousands of staff, students, and visitors to the heart of the university, where the atmosphere was filled with colour, sound, and pageantry. Participants donned traditional attire from across Nigeria, while majestic horse parades, rhythmic drumming, and spirited dances brought the rich heritage of the Hausa and other ethnic groups to life.

The carnival served not only as entertainment but also as a celebration of identity and togetherness, highlighting the university’s role as a melting pot of cultures. For many, it was a proud reminder of ABU’s longstanding tradition of cultural exchange and national unity.

Photos from the event captured dazzling costumes, the grandeur of the parades, and the joyful spirit of the crowd — a true testament to the enduring power of Nigerian culture on campus.
