Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday officially welcomed Delta State Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, and their supporters into the All Progressives Congress (APC) at a rally held in Asaba, Delta State.

Representing President Bola Tinubu, Shettima described the defectors as “co-owners” of the ruling party and urged them to contribute actively to shaping the APC’s future.

APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, presented the party’s flag and symbol to the new members, describing the defection as historic.

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State also praised the move, noting that Delta’s infrastructural achievements under Oborevwori align with the APC’s development agenda.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Governor Oborevwori said the decision was a strategic move to better align with the federal government for the benefit of Delta State, while former Governor Okowa emphasized that it would ensure greater access to democratic dividends for the people.
