Police arrest seven over ₦20.45m theft from commercial store in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested seven suspects over the alleged theft of goods valued at ₦20.45 million from a commercial store in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

The arrests were disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the police public relations officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, who said the suspects were involved in a long-running conspiracy that led to the disappearance of assorted goods from the store.

According to the police, the case was reported on January 3, 2026, by the store owner, Ogunyomi Segun, who alleged that some of his employees had been stealing items from the shop between 2024 and early 2026.

Items reportedly stolen include soft drinks, Trophy cans, and other canned beverages. Investigations identified the storekeeper, a computer operator, and another staff member as key suspects.

The police said three other individuals were arrested for allegedly receiving the stolen goods, while a driver was implicated in transporting the items out of the store.

During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to the crime and explained their respective roles. Police stated that the suspects would be charged to court following the conclusion of investigations.

The commissioner of police in the state, Adebowale Lawal, commended the detectives for the operation and assured residents that the command would continue to clamp down on criminal activities across Ondo State.
