The Kwara State Police Command, in collaboration with local vigilantes, has rescued three children who were among seven victims kidnapped by armed hoodlums along the Obbo-Aiyegunle/Osi Road in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, when the abductors, numbering about eight, intercepted a Sienna bus with registration number FFA 50 XD. The vehicle, which was traveling from Abuja to Offa, was attacked, and all seven occupants, including the driver, were forcefully taken into the bush.

Upon receiving the distress report, police operatives and vigilante groups swiftly mobilized to the scene. The abandoned Sienna bus was recovered and taken to the nearest police formation. A coordinated search of the surrounding bush led to the rescue of three children, aged between 2 and 12 years.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, one of the rescued children provided valuable information about her guardian, who was promptly contacted. The three children have since been reunited with their families.

Meanwhile, the Kwara State Police Command has intensified efforts through discreet investigation, intelligence gathering, and sustained bush combing operations to track down the abductors and secure the release of the remaining victims.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, reassured residents that the Command remains fully committed to their safety and urged anyone with useful information to come forward through the established channels.
