President Tinubu names new boards for NCC, USPF

By Kunle Sanni –

President Bola Tinubu has approved the constitution of the boards of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), both under the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.

In the NCC board, Idris Olorunnimbe was appointed Chairman, while Dr. Aminu Waida will continue as Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer — a role he assumed in October 2023 and was confirmed by the Senate in November of the same year.

Olorunnimbe, a former member of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund Board, is credited with leading youth employment and entrepreneurship initiatives.

Other NCC board members include Abraham Oshidami (Executive Commissioner, Technical Services), Rimini Makama (Executive Commissioner, Stakeholder Management), Hajia Maryam Bayi (former Director, Human Capital & Administration), Col. Abdulwahab Lawal (Rtd), Senator Lekan Mustafa, Chris Okorie, Princess Oforitsenere Emiko, and the board secretary.

For the USPF board, Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, will serve as Chairman, with Olorunnimbe as Vice Chairman.

Other members are Oshidami, Makama, Aliyu Edogi Aliyu (representing the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy), Joseph B. Faluyi (Federal Ministry of Finance), Auwal Mohammed (Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning), Uzoma Dozie, Peter Bankole, Abayomi Anthony Okanlawon, Gafar Oluwasegun Quadri, and the USPF Secretary.
