Red-hot Lookman scores as Atalanta beats Stuttgart in Champions League

Ademola Lookman continued his impressive form by scoring again as Atalanta secured a crucial Champions League victory over Stuttgart, extending their unbeaten European run this season.

The Italian side dominated much of the first half, though Stuttgart posed a threat with missed opportunities from Anthony Rouault and former Brighton striker Deniz Undav.

Building on their recent 3-0 win over Napoli, Atalanta took control early in the second half. Manager Gian Piero Gasperini’s halftime substitution proved pivotal as Charles De Ketelaere’s low cross found Lookman, who tapped it in to give Atalanta the lead.

Lookman’s goal brings his season tally to eight in 12 appearances across all competitions, following his strong showing last season, including a Europa League hat-trick in the final.

Stuttgart came close to equalizing through Ermedin Demirovic, who missed from close range. Atalanta then secured the win when Nicolo Zaniolo added a late counter-attacking goal, maintaining their record of not conceding in Europe this season.

With eight points from four games, Atalanta holds a strong position as they prepare to face Young Boys, while Stuttgart heads to Belgrade to play Crvena Zvezda on matchday five.
