‎Remodelled Osogbo Stadium to host international events with 15,000 capacity — Adeleke

‎Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has announced that the ongoing remodelling of Osogbo Stadium will increase its seating capacity from 4,000 to 15,000, making it eligible to host local and international sporting events.

‎Speaking during a project review session on Monday, Adeleke said the increased capacity will attract major sporting events and boost the development of sports in the state.
‎
‎He expressed satisfaction with the speed and quality of the work, attributing the progress to the involvement of foreign technical partners ensuring the stadium meets FIFA standards.
‎
‎In a statement by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor said, “In remodelling the stadium, we must satisfy global standards. I am happy at the involvement of local and international experts to ensure we meet FIFA and all associated standards. This is the way to go to finally integrate Osun into the mainstream of sports development in the country.”

‎Adeleke added that efforts are ongoing to operationalise the Osun Sports Trust Fund and the Osun State Sports Commission to address challenges in the sector.
‎
‎He said the administration is committed to building a modern sports ecosystem that will empower athletes and sports professionals across the state.
‎
‎He commended the contractor and the deputy governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, who doubles as the commissioner for sports, for their commitment to completing the project.
