Sanwo-Olu, LASG mark one year remembrance of late Deputy Chief of Staff

As family, friends, and associates mark the one-year remembrance of Mr. Gboyega Soyannwo, the immediate past Deputy Chief of Staff to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor said he missed his former aide dearly, adding that his memories remain vivid.

Governor Sanwo-Olu and other dignitaries are expected to attend the memorial and thanksgiving service on Thursday, May 15, at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, The Covenant House, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Soyannwo passed away on May 15, 2024, after a brief illness at the age of 55. He was laid to rest on May 23 at the Vaults and Gardens following a funeral service at RCCG City of David Parish, Victoria Island.

Reflecting on the anniversary, Governor Sanwo-Olu said Soyannwo is never forgotten due to his remarkable contributions.

“I remember former Deputy Chief of Staff, Gboyega Soyannwo, who we lost about one year ago. We celebrate the beautiful life he lived and the impact he had on his family, friends, associates, civil servants, and political office holders in Lagos State.

“Soyannwo was more than a deputy; he was my brother, an armour-bearer, a confidante, and a faithful believer in our collective dream of a Greater Lagos. He worked passionately to ensure that good governance and the dividends of democracy reached millions of Lagos residents.”

The governor offered prayers for Soyannwo’s wife, Yewande, their children, and the entire family, expressing hope that God would continue to strengthen them.
