Awoniyi out of induced coma after abdominal surgery

A positive update from the United Kingdom late Wednesday night confirms that Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, is out of an induced coma following emergency surgery for an abdominal injury.
The Nigerian international sustained the injury during a 2-2 draw against Leicester City on Sunday after colliding with a goalpost.
Awoniyi underwent emergency surgery on Monday night to address the abdominal issue. He was subsequently placed in an induced coma to limit movement and stabilize his heart rate, though his condition was not considered life-threatening.
According to Mail Online, the second phase of the medical procedure was completed on Wednesday, and Awoniyi is now awake and recovering in hospital under close observation with his family by his side.
The news of his injury sparked widespread concern across Nigeria, with many fans and supporters offering prayers and well wishes for his recovery.
There is still no official timeline for his rehabilitation, even as the Premier League season nears its end with only a few fixtures remaining.
