Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday expressed condolences to the family, friends and associates of veteran Nigerian actor Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, who died Sunday at 66.
Sanwo-Olu described the actor’s death as painful and heartbreaking, saying his passing was a significant loss to Nigeria, particularly the creative industry.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, the governor extended his sympathies to Ogogo’s children, family members, colleagues and the wider entertainment industry.
He urged the deceased’s family, friends, colleagues, fans and other practitioners in the entertainment industry to accept his death as an act of God and find comfort in the life he lived.
Sanwo-Olu described Ogogo as a talented actor who used his gift to entertain audiences and contribute to society through his performances in numerous Nigerian films.
He said the actor’s roles helped to mirror society, shape character and leave a lasting impression on generations of film lovers.
The governor said Ogogo’s death had created a void in the entertainment industry that would take time to fill, adding that he would be greatly missed by his family, friends, colleagues and fans.
Sanwo-Olu prayed for the late actor’s eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus and asked God to give his family, friends and colleagues the strength to cope with the loss.
