SCM Capital invests ₦1bn in Mobihealth to expand telehealth services in Nigeria

Mobihealth International has secured a ₦1 billion equity investment from SCM Capital to accelerate the expansion of its technology-enabled healthcare services across Nigeria.
At an event held in Lagos on Tuesday, the company, a global integrated telehealth provider focused on expanding access to quality healthcare across Africa and emerging markets, described the funding as a milestone in its mission to bridge healthcare access gaps through digital innovation.
According to the firm, the capital will be used to strengthen its telehealth platforms, fast-track the nationwide rollout of solar- and satellite-powered telehealth clinics, expand AI-enabled healthcare services, enhance remote diagnostics capabilities, and support geographic expansion, particularly in underserved and hard-to-reach communities.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mobihealth International, Dr Funmi Adewara, described the investment as a validation of the company’s vision to democratise access to quality healthcare through innovative technology.
“This investment from SCM Capital is a strong validation of Mobihealth’s vision to democratise access to quality healthcare through innovative technology. With this funding, we will accelerate our expansion across Nigeria, deploy more solar- and satellite-powered telehealth clinics, and continue building a world-class digital health ecosystem that connects patients to trusted medical experts anywhere in the world,” she said.
The firm noted that the funding would help accelerate the expansion of technology-enabled healthcare services, strengthen health system capacity, and improve access to quality care for millions of Nigerians, particularly in underserved communities.
Dr Gbadebo Adenrele, Managing Director of United Capital Investment Bank and Transaction Adviser on the deal, said the transaction highlights growing investor confidence in scalable digital health platforms that combine commercial potential with measurable social impact. He added that the investment provides the capital foundation required for Mobihealth to scale its operations and deepen healthcare access across the country.
The company disclosed that the funding would also support continued innovation across its integrated digital health ecosystem, including virtual specialist consultations, remote patient monitoring, digital diagnostics, electronic medical records integration, and telemedicine-based health workforce support.
