Sensitive materials finally arrive CBN ahead of Osun election

Sensitive materials for Saturday’s Osun State governorship election arrived at the Central Bank of Nigeria in Osogbo on Thursday night after hours of delay.

The materials, which were expected in the state earlier in the day, arrived at the CBN complex at about 8:45 p.m. under security escort.

The delay followed the reprinting of ballot papers to accommodate the Social Democratic Party candidate after a court ordered the candidate’s inclusion in the election.

Meanwhile, agents of political parties, security operatives and journalists remained at the CBN premises while awaiting the arrival and inspection of the materials.

Following their arrival, officials of the CBN and the Independent National Electoral Commission commenced the inspection of the sensitive materials.

The inspection was conducted under security presence as officials prepared the materials for onward distribution.

Subsequently, the materials are expected to be distributed to the various local government areas ahead of Saturday’s election.

The distribution is expected to pave the way for the final preparations for the governorship poll across the state.
