Shariah Council President, Sheikh Hadiyyatulai dies
Prominent Islamic scholar and President of the Supreme Council for Shariah in Nigeria, Sheikh Abdur Rasheed Hadiyyatullah, has passed away at the age of 83.
Sheikh Hadiyyatullah died on Monday, April 28, 2025, in his hometown of Iwo, Osun State, after a brief illness.
Until his death, he was also the Director of the Sheikh Ibn Baz Shariah College of Nigeria, where he dedicated his life to the service of Islam through teaching, leadership, and community guidance.
A family member who spoke with WESTERN POST confirmed that his burial is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Shariah College in Iwo.
“Sheikh returned to the mercy of Allah today, Monday, 28th April 2025 (29th Shawwal 1446 AH).
“We pray Allah (SWT) forgives him, has mercy on him, expands his grave, fills it with light, and grants him the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus. We also pray for patience and strength for his family and students,” the family member added.
