Super Bowl 2026: Tinubu hails Seahawks’ Nigerian-descent players

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated players of Nigerian descent who helped the Seattle Seahawks secure a 29–13 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60 at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday.
The congratulatory message was contained in a statement signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, praising the Seahawks’ dominant performance, which earned the team its second Lombardi Trophy.
In the statement on Tuesday, the President highlighted several Seahawks players of Nigerian heritage for their roles in the historic victory. Those named include quarterback Jalen Oluwaseun Milroe; defensive standout Nick Emmanwori; veteran linebacker Uchenna Nwosu; linebacker Boye Maye; and offensive lineman Olu Oluwatimi.
President Tinubu also commended Michael Onwenu of the New England Patriots, describing him as one of the most dominant offensive linemen in the game despite his team’s defeat.
According to the President, the achievements of the players reflect the global reputation of Nigerians for excellence and talent. He gave special recognition to Emmanwori, Nwosu, and Maye for celebrating the victory by raising Nigeria’s flag after the game.
