The Super Falcons thrashed Comoros 5-0 in Ikenne on Tuesday to seal a 7-0 aggregate victory and advance to the next round of the 2028 Olympic Games women’s football qualifiers.

Nigeria, who won the first leg 2-0, dominated early proceedings, although Gift Monday missed a chance to score in the ninth minute. Captain Rasheedat Ajibade was forced off following a collision in the 28th minute, with Folashade Ijamilusi replacing her.

The hosts broke the deadlock in the 41st minute when Uchenna Kanu intercepted a goalkeeping error and teed up Toni Payne to score from close range.

Kanu doubled Nigeria’s lead in the 58th minute, heading home Ijamilusi’s cross. Her effort three minutes later was ruled out for offside.

Blessing Okpe, introduced at half-time for Monday, set up Payne’s second goal in the 63rd minute after beating two defenders and cutting the ball back into the box.

Kanu completed her brace in the 66th minute, heading home another Ijamilusi cross to take her tally across the two legs to three goals.

Christy Ucheibe converted a 71st-minute penalty after Okpe was fouled in the box to complete the rout.

Nigeria made further substitutions late on as they comfortably saw out the victory. The Super Falcons will face Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses in the next round.
