The audacity to believe: A message to the World – 34 days to Let There Be Teachers Conference, by Hakeem Subair

In just over 30 days, on September 20, 2025, something unprecedented will happen.
60,000 educators, the quiet heroes of our time will gather in one place, not just to break a Guinness World Record, but to break through decades of inertia in the global education conversation.
No one has ever done this before – not on this scale, not in this way. And certainly not in a country that headlines many of the statistic on education failure. But perhaps this is exactly where it was always meant to happen.
Nigeria – a land of brilliance shackled by neglect, a country often misunderstood is the stage for this gathering. And that is no coincidence. Because if we can restore dignity, voice, and vision to teachers here, then the ripple will be felt across the entire continent and beyond.

Sub-Saharan Africa is the epicenter of the global learning crisis. But it is also the place that inspired one of the boldest solutions: 1 Million Teachers. And now, the Let There Be Teachers Conference.
This is not just a celebration. It’s a movement of audacity, fueled by those who dare to believe that education can be rebuilt, not by policy alone, but by investing in the people who carry it daily on their backs: the teachers.
A Shout-Out to the Believers
We salute the convener, Oluwaseyi Anifowose, whose vision lit the spark, and who is leading it with so much gusto.
We honour the volunteers who carry this fire across every state and village.
We thank the partners – institutions, funders, friends who didn’t wait for perfection to join in.
We recognize the educators, the truest stakeholders in this revolution.
You are all part of something bigger than a conference.
You are builders of a future we have not yet seen – but we believe in it nonetheless.
What This Moment Means
This is a moment to show the world that teachers are not invisible, and that systems must be reshaped around them – not in spite of them.
This is a moment when policy and people will converge, when ministers, lawmakers, educators, students, and activists will sit under one banner – not to talk, but to act.
This is a moment to reframe what is possible.
We expect bold pronouncements.
We expect new policy commitments.
We expect every attendee to leave with a piece of the solution they can carry back to their own communities.
Because the point is not just to gather.
The point is to ignite a thousand new beginnings.
The Power of Belief
The story of this movement – of 1 Million Teachers and Let There Be Teachers – is not one of money or machinery. It is a story of belief.
The belief that teachers matter.
The belief that ordinary people can shape extraordinary futures.
The belief that from neglected soil can grow the seeds of a new world.
We are not here to prove we can gather 60,000 educators.
We are here to prove that when we believe in teachers, the world itself can be reimagined.
Call to Action
So, with 34 days to go, this is our ask:
- Join us. Not just in Lagos, but in spirit, in solidarity, in action.
- Share the word. Use your platform – big or small – to raise the flag for teachers.
- Sponsor a teacher, support a voice, amplify the cause.
- And if you’re a policymaker? Come ready to make history.
Because the world won’t change until education changes.
And education won’t change until teachers are given the room to breathe, to lead, and to thrive.
Let There Be Teachers. And Let There Be Light.
This is not just Nigeria’s moment.
This is the world’s moment to remember that in every crisis lies a calling.
And in every teacher lies a thousand futures waiting to be unleashed.
Let us answer that call – together.
Let there be teachers.
Let them breathe.
Let them lead.
And let the world take notice.
