Tinubu, Gowon attend ECOWAS 50th anniversary in Lagos

President Bola Tinubu and former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd), on Tuesday attended the 50th anniversary celebration of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Victoria Island, Lagos.

President Tinubu had arrived in Lagos earlier on Tuesday ahead of the milestone event and the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir (Sallah) celebrations.

The President, who currently serves as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, is expected to host a series of engagements in the state during the festive period.

The ECOWAS 50th anniversary event brought together key dignitaries, diplomats, and policymakers to reflect on the regional body’s journey since its establishment in 1975, highlighting its achievements and the challenges that lie ahead.
