President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Remo Stars Football Club on their historic victory in the 2024–2025 Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL), describing it as a proud moment for Ikenne and Ogun State.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised the club’s remarkable achievement, which comes just four years after their promotion to Nigeria’s top-flight league. He commended the hard work, discipline, and resilience demonstrated by the players, coaching crew, and management.
The President noted the team’s perseverance, highlighting their courage and determination despite falling short in previous title races. He expressed hope that Remo Stars’ success would inspire other Nigerian football clubs to pursue their dreams with similar tenacity and optimism.
President Tinubu also lauded the club’s owner and chairman, Mr. Kunle Soname, for his vision and commitment to grassroots football development, particularly the establishment of a world-class stadium in Ikenne, which has become a vital foundation for the growth of sports in Nigeria.
With their league triumph, Remo Stars will now represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League. President Tinubu urged the team to maintain their undaunted spirit and focus as they seek continental glory.
He also called on football fans across the nation to rally behind Remo Stars as they carry Nigeria’s hopes onto the African stage.
