Tinubu meets Peter Obi, Fayemi at Vatican Mass

By Kunle Sanni

President Bola Tinubu, Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Ekiti State governor Kayode Fayemi met on Sunday during the installation Mass of Pope Leo XIV in Rome.

Fayemi, upon spotting President Tinubu seated among other world leaders, invited Obi to join him in paying respects to the Nigerian leader. Obi agreed and accompanied him.

Breaking the ice upon arrival, Fayemi said, “Mr. President, welcome to our church, and thank you for honouring the Pope with your presence.”

President Tinubu, known for his quick wit, replied: “I should be the one welcoming you and Peter. I’m the Head of the Nigerian Delegation.”

The remark drew laughter from Obi, who responded, “Yes, indeed. We are members of your delegation.”

Both Obi and Fayemi are devout Catholics and Papal Knights, and their attendance at the Vatican underscores their strong ties to the Church.
