Tinubu urges peace as Akpabio presents flag to Oyebamiji

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged political stakeholders in Osun State to shun violence, intimidation and harassment before, during and after Saturday’s governorship election.
Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) mega rally for the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in Osogbo on Thursday, Tinubu, represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, said adequate security measures had been put in place to ensure a free, fair and credible election.
Addressing thousands of APC supporters and party leaders at the rally, Akpabio urged voters to freely choose their preferred candidates, stressing that nobody should harass or intimidate others during the electoral process.
He said Tinubu, who fought for the advancement of democracy, would not allow anyone to undermine the democratic process, adding that voters should go out and vote wisely.
Thereafter, Akpabio presented the APC flag to Oyebamiji, describing it as a symbol of authority and power, while the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq urged voters to turn out in large numbers to support the candidate.
AbdulRazaq said Oyebamiji’s closeness to Tinubu would enable him to attract greater Federal Government presence to Osun State, assuring voters that the APC candidate would not disappoint them.
Similarly, the Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council for the Osun governorship election, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, urged residents to vote for Oyebamiji, saying the party was not known for violence, trouble or intimidation and calling for support for Tinubu’s administration.
Responding, Oyebamiji promised that his administration would be inclusive and cater to all sections of the state if elected, while the rally attracted several APC leaders, including House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, former Osun Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ondo Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun and Ekiti Governor Abayomi Oyebanji.
