…resident faults road condition

A yet-to-be-identified motorcyclist was crushed to death after another vehicle reportedly knocked him into the path of an oncoming trailer on Oyinmo Road, Ikare-Akoko, in the Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, causing residents to block parts of the road in protest and disrupting the free flow of traffic in the area.
An eyewitness, Saheed, said the motorcyclist was first hit by another vehicle and thrown into the path of the approaching trailer, which subsequently crushed him.
According to him, the driver of the vehicle that initially struck the motorcyclist fled the scene shortly after the incident.
“Another driver hit the motorcyclist and he fell into the path of the oncoming trailer, which crushed him. The driver fled, but some residents went after him,” Saheed said.
Reacting to the incident, a resident, Akadri Ayodeji, called on the Ondo State Government to prevail on the contractor handling the Ikare road project to accelerate construction work.
Ayodeji said the accident might have been avoided if the ongoing road dualisation project had progressed faster, noting that Oyinmo Road was designed as an alternative route but has limited capacity.
He urged the state government and the contractor to expedite the project to reduce the risk of further accidents, improve traffic flow and ease congestion in the area.
