Uzodimma hints at uncertainty ahead of APC NEC meeting

By Kunle Sanni –
As anticipation mounts ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting slated for Thursday, Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has expressed uncertainty over the possible outcomes of the high-level gathering.
Uzodimma spoke to reporters on Wednesday evening after a closed-door meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, noting that it was too early to predict any major decisions or leadership changes at the NEC session.
“We cannot say what will happen until we get there tomorrow,” he said in response to questions on whether significant developments were expected.
His remarks highlight the fluid nature of ongoing deliberations within the ruling party, especially as the NEC prepares to address the vacancy created by Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje’s resignation as National Chairman.
The governor described his meeting with President Tinubu as a “convenient discussion” aimed at harmonizing state and federal efforts to improve governance and party coordination.
With the NEC session drawing closer, party insiders are closely watching for decisions on leadership zoning, internal restructuring, and strategic planning ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting is expected to be pivotal in shaping the APC’s direction and resolving simmering internal tensions across various regions and interest blocs.
The APC NEC is scheduled to convene at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
