VIDEO: Pro-Wike lawmakers lock Governor Fubara out of Assembly from re-presenting 2025 budget

Governor Fubara’s scheduled presentation of the 2025 state budget was derailed when a group of pro-Wike lawmakers allegedly locked the entrance to the Rivers State House of Assembly. The incident has added fuel to an already tense political climate in the state.

The governor, who was expected to outline his administration’s fiscal roadmap for the coming year, arrived at the Assembly building only to find the gates locked by lawmakers believed to be loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike.

Eyewitnesses report that the blockade occurred shortly before the session was due to commence, leaving the governor unable to gain entry to the chamber.

The locked gates have effectively stalled the budget presentation, throwing the legislative process into disarray.

The pro-Wike lawmakers have yet to release an official statement explaining their actions.
