Former Foreign Affairs Minister Sule Lamido is an unrepentant critic of President Bola Tinubu. He has made himself a staunch opponent of the president, criticizing and condemning him at every opportunity.

But all that appeared to fade at the wedding of Senator Yari’s son on Friday in Kaduna. Politics was set aside, and there was a camaraderie of sorts between the critic and the president.

Standing beside them was the former Zamfara State governor and current Minister of State for Defence, Alhaji Bello Matawalle, who was seen urging Lamido to look into the cameras. Also present was Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Lamido, a former governor of Jigawa State, is a member of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The meeting reinforces the notion that, in the final analysis, Nigeria’s political leaders often set aside their partisan differences when the occasion demands it.
