Nigeria’s Super Falcons delivered a dominant performance on Friday evening, crushing Zambia 5-0 to book a place in the semi-finals of the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The quarter-final match, played at Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, saw Nigeria take control early, with Osinachi Ohale opening the scoring in the 2nd minute after connecting with Esther Okoronkwo’s cross.

Okoronkwo turned scorer in the 33rd minute, doubling the lead by finishing off a pinpoint delivery from Rasheedat Ajibade.

Just before halftime, Chiwendu Ihezuo capitalised on a defensive error by Zambia to slot home the third goal, following a long ball from goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie.

After the break, Nigeria resumed their attacking display, with Tosin Demehin heading in the fourth goal from Okoronkwo’s free kick.

Ijamilusi Folashade completed the rout with a fifth goal, sealing an emphatic win for the nine-time African champions.

Head coach Justin Madugu praised his team’s discipline and intensity, noting that the players executed their game plan to perfection.

The Super Falcons will now face the winner of the South Africa versus Senegal clash in the semi-finals as they continue their quest for a tenth continental title.
