Why I didn’t attend University of Ibadan – Olubadan-designate Ladoja

By Adejayan Gbenga –
Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the Olubadan-designate, has explained why he did not attend the University of Ibadan, citing his interest in studying technology, a faculty that was not yet established when he sought admission in 1966.
The monarch made the remarks during a courtesy visit by the university’s principal officers to his Ibadan residence.
The delegation was led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale.
Ladoja praised the University of Ibadan for maintaining its status as one of the country’s leading institutions despite the proliferation of universities nationwide.
He described the university as a source of pride for both the academic community and the people of Ibadan.
He further urged the institution to leverage the strengths of other research centers in the city to advance its mandate and contribute meaningfully to the development of Ibadan.
Professor Adebowale, in his remarks, noted that the university owes its existence to the generosity and hospitality of the Ibadan people. He assured that the institution would continue to collaborate with the city’s residents across various areas of human endeavour.
