Why the north must trust Tinubu and return him for second term in office, by Kola Amzat

The heat is already on. The momentum is building. Key political players are taking positions. There is rat race among the politicians across the country, each making valiant attempt to outdo and out maneuver other.

The fact remains: if anyone is still in doubt of the closeness of year 2027, he/she better wake up from his/her slumber and embrace the reality!

The beauty of 2027 election remains: Nigerians are already accustomed to virtually all political players who are likely to fly the banners of majorpolitical parties particularly, at the presidency level, and, so, they have become the cynosure of all eyes.

Even though, it’s a democratic setting, but, the country men and women are already conscious of those who ordinarily have no business whatsoever, in offering themselves for any future election in this country.

Nigerians are aware of the havoc wrecked on the nation by cankerterous Alhaji Atiku Abubakar while he was second in command to Olusegun Obasanjo from 1999-2007, so much that Obasanjo declared that Atiku would be Nigerian president, over his dead body. .

Rauf Aregbesola tenure in Osun state as state governor for eight years was a monumental disaster. He also mindlessly looted the state Treasury.

Even though, David Mark was a Nigerian President of senate for 8 solid years, there wasn’t any significant and notable contribution he made to advance the cause of democracy throughout his inglorious 8 years reign. Indeed, he was a key figure of PDP destructive machinery that looted the country to blind. Nigerians would vividly recollect that, it was David Mark a federal minister of communication who made that infamous and very demeaning declaration that mobile lines are not for the poor.

This is the person ADC Coalition group have opted to appoint as their Chairman! Nigerians are also conscious of who Rotimi Amaechi and El-Rufai are!

Both are combustible and belligerent politicians that, it’s only the providence that could offer explanation how the duo found themselves at the corridor of power, more-so, the exalted office of governor of their states, and indeed, federal minister portfolios.

In saner clime, they wouldn’t have ascended even, office of Local government chairman, how much more been a governor, reason been that they lack the maturity and temperament, as well as other leadership traits required for that exalted office. That was why Rivers and Kaduna states consistently expressed turmoil and maladministration during their reigns.

Meanwhile, Peter Obi is either here nor there. He’s the most inconsistent and deceptive, of Nigerian modern day politicians.

In a bid to hoodwink Nigerians, he continually rolls out very questionable, subjective and very disturbing statistics on economy, infrastructures, medical, and educational sectors, that only create confusion and imbalance in all gamut, as well as continually throw the unsuspecting Nigerians into confusion and state of despondence.

These are the political rejects and power mongers that are gallivanting all across the federation, particularly, in all three Geo-political zones in the North running the government down, in a bid to unseat the incumbent president, and promising deliverables they absolutely have no capacity to deliver.

The question Nigerians are asking remains: what has the present government do that these power mongers desire to do differently? Absolutely, nothing! The centerpiece of this Write-up is therefore for the good people of the North to be circumspect, reflective and be appreciative of so much this president has done for them just within two years of his assumption of office, also place trust in him, as well as discard with those power mongers and selfish Nigerian politicians who are desperate for power purposely for self-aggrandizement, entrenching their personal interest in governance, as well as having no regard for unity and togetherness of this country.

It’s instructive to submit that Tinubu was instrumental to the emergence of the late former president, Muhammud Buhari to power and authority as a democratically elected president after failing for about 12 years.

The ex-Lagos state governor didn’t stop at that, he deployed all resources within his disposal to support the deceased retired general throughout 8 years that his democratic regime endured.

From the economic point of view, the creation of Ministry of Livestock Development is essentially aimed to tap into the agricultural potential of the North, promoting economic growth, as well as empowering millions, particularly women and youths in the North. Of course, this bold initiative is purposed to transform rural communities in the North and also, contribute to food security.

It’s also important to submit that, President Tinubu has prioritized infrastructural projects that are very vital for economic growth in the North, a tremendous initiative that includes major highway projects across the length and breadth of the North, the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline, Kolmani oil exploration, and of course, several rural irrigation schemes.

Also, of great importance is the Local Government Autonomy that the president assented, an innovative and developmental Act that empowers local government authorities to function very effectively, through ensuring accountability and purposeful governance at the grassroots level.

North would significantly benefit from this awesome initiative, with particular reference to the expected huge development that the grassroots expected to experience, moving forward.

The Federal Government have also committed several billions in battling insecurity and criminality in North-North-west, North-east and North-central.

In the immediate past year, more than 8000 bandits and terrorists were neutralized, with 11,000 criminals apprehended, and several thousand arms & ammunitions recovered, the developments that has necessitated improvement of security in the entire North.

The establishment of Multi-Agency Anti Kidnap Fusion Cell (MAAKFC) in collaboration with the United Kingdom National Crime Agency has also tremendously enhanced strategic coordination in the fight against band of kidnappers.

Concerning federal appointments, a breakdown of appointments since president ascended showed president’s fair distribution of appointment across Nigeria’s regions, with the North receiving slightly more slots than the entire South.

As I put this Piece on, President Tinubu has so far appointed 71 individuals from the North and 63 from the South into key federal positions.

Below is the list of prominent Nigerians of North extraction that have been appointed into key positions, since President assumed office on May 29, 2023:

With the above statistics, it’s apparent that the president has been very fair and magnanimous to the North, as the region has gotten their fair share of federal appointments.

Except the North desire that ONLY Nigerians of northern extraction must be appointed to the position of authority at the federal level, this president has even done more than enough for the north, with respect to the appointment into key positions.

This writer therefore admonish our fellow countrymen & women in the

Northern Hemisphere to reciprocate the president’s kind gestures by resisting all attempts by any opposition groups, particularly, the political rejects and confused souls, that made up ADC Coalition group, as well as members of PDP, that are deploying all resources available to hoodwink and deceive the North and Nigerians not to pander to them.

Those groups have absolutely nothing to offer the North, as well as the people of Nigeria.

If the likes of Atiku Abubakar, David Mark, Peter Obi, El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi and others have been thoroughly found wanting in key appointments they’d been privileged to involved in the past, nothing suggest to Nigerians that they won’t even be MONUMENTAL DISASTER in future, giving them another opportunity.

It therefore pays the good people of the North to cast their loins on President Tinubu by returning him back to office in 2027, for him to consolidate on his infrastructural developments, educational and medical architecture initiatives, rural-urban renewal, empowerment of all cadres of Nigeria, strengthen ICT drive in Nigeria, and more importantly, to fortify and strengthen the country territorial integrity, as well as consolidate on the unity and togetherness of Nigerian people.

This is the only thing the North could do to show appreciation and gratitude to a resourceful, detribalized, thoughtful, developmental, and patriotic president who has taken absolute interest in all matters that concern them.
