Why we endorsed President Tinubu for second term — Governor Adeleke

The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has explained the rationale behind his administration’s endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
Adeleke, in a statement by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, made the remarks during an inspection of the ongoing reconstruction of the Ibadan–Ile-Ife–Ilesa Expressway, describing Tinubu as “our own son, father and leader” who deserves their support beyond political considerations.
“I am the governor of the ancestral birthplace of Mr President. How can I have my own in the saddle and think twice before embracing him? I need no persuasion to act as I have declared repeatedly, our endorsement of Mr President,” he said.
“How many governors are as lucky as me? Well, my brother, Governor Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State will claim to be luckier. But we, in Osun State, count ourselves lucky and privileged to have one of our illustrious sons and father at the helm of affairs of Nigeria.”
Describing his decision as beyond partisan consideration, the governor reaffirmed his support for Tinubu and expressed gratitude to the president for the ongoing construction of the Ilesa–Ile-Ife–Ibadan Expressway.
Commending the progress of work on the Ibadan–Ile-Ife–Ilesa Expressway, Adeleke described the project as a major intervention that would boost connectivity, improve access to key economic centres, and complement his administration’s infrastructure drive across the state.
He disclosed that his administration has rehabilitated several federal roads since assuming office in 2022, while over 300 kilometres of state roads have also been reconstructed, expressing hope that the president would soon authorise the payment of refunds for the rehabilitated federal roads.
He also appreciated the president for approving the reconstruction of the Ibadan–Iwo–Osogbo Road and the Gbongan–Akoda Road, adding that he would write to the president to seek approval for the reconstruction of the Osogbo–Ilesa Road.
