Chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Honourable Taiwo Lekan Salami, has explained the reasons behind the recent restructuring at the club, which led to the dismissal of key personnel.
On Wednesday, the club announced the sack of its General Manager, Dimeji Lawal, along with the entire technical crew headed by coach Gbenga Ogunbote.
Hon. Salami said the shake-up was in line with the mandate given by Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, for a complete overhaul aimed at repositioning the club.
“In order to reclaim the club’s lost glory, His Excellency has mandated me as Executive Chairman to embark on a total restructuring of the club,” Salami stated.
He added that the process had already begun with the termination of appointments of the General Manager and the coaching crew.
Salami also announced the appointment of a seasoned administrator, Bunmi Fadayomi, as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the club. He added that plans were underway to appoint a Sporting Director.
According to him, these changes take immediate effect as the club begins preparations for the 2025 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
Recall that the Oyo State Government appointed Hon. Salami to replace Hon. Babatunde Olaniyan Akoro, who has been assigned another responsibility.
