World Teachers’ Day: Kwara declares Monday as holiday for teachers

Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has approved Monday, October 7, 2024, as a public holiday for teachers across the state in celebration of World Teachers’ Day (WTD).

The announcement was made in a statement by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, on Sunday in Ilorin.

The Governor lauded the efforts of teachers in advancing human development through their dedication to quality education and the nurturing of young minds.

“The Governor directs that this holiday be enjoyed by teachers in both public and private sectors as a mark of appreciation for what they do,” the statement read. “He wishes them a blessed holiday.”

World Teachers’ Day, celebrated globally on October 5, recognizes the critical role of teachers in shaping the future through education.
