Zenith Bank seeks extension to file H1 2026 audited results

Zenith Bank’s decision to seek a six-week extension to publish its H1 2026 audited financial statements highlights the regulatory clearance process that major banks are facing following the sector’s recapitalisation exercise.
Although the Board approved the accounts on July 29, 2026, regulatory approval remains outstanding.Credit & Lending
The bank now has until October 9, 2026, to publish the results, although management expects to release them earlier. While the delay is not linked to an operational issue, the extended reporting timeline could leave investors with limited visibility into the bank’s latest earnings and balance-sheet position.
The statement reads, “Zenith Bank Plc (the Company) hereby informs the investing public that the Company’s Half-Year Audited Financial Statement for the period ended June 30, 2026 was approved by the Board of Directors on July 29, 2026; however, approval from our primary Regulator is required before the release of the Audited Financial Statement.
“Consequently, the Company has requested an extension of time from Nigerian Exchange Limited (“NGX”) to publish its Half-Year Audited Statement, and NGX has approved a six (6)- week extension beyond the regulatory filing date of August 29, 2026.
“The Company is hopeful that the Half-Year Audited Financial Statement will be released on or before 9 October 2026. Investing
“We are, however, optimistic that the reports will be submitted to NGX and the investing public before the date approved by NGX.”
For investors, attention will centre on whether the eventual results sustain Zenith Bank’s recent earnings momentum and demonstrate effective deployment of its enlarged capital base. Banking
The filing delay appears regulatory rather than operational, given that the audited financial statements have already received Board approval. Investors will therefore focus on the timing of the regulatory clearance and whether the eventual results confirm the bank’s underlying earnings and balance-sheet strength.
The delay may create some near-term uncertainty around Zenith Bank’s financial performance, particularly as investors await clarity on post-recapitalisation earnings, capital adequacy and asset quality. However, an early release ahead of the October 9 deadline could help limit prolonged uncertainty and restore visibility around the bank’s fundamentals.
